100 Card Pauper Commander - Rules I Use

Pauper Commander - Rules

The Pauper part of the Pauper Commander unsanctioned format is that 99 of the cards in a
deck must belong to the Common rarity.

The other card may be an Uncommon or a Common, and it must  serve as a Commander or General.

The Commander, may be an a Legendary Creature, a Creature, or a Planeswalker, as long as
it is Common or Uncommon.

The deck is also like Commander/EDH is that it only allows 100 different, except for basic
lands, which has to be 99 cards or less.

A player’s life total starts at 30. Alex and I agreed 40 damage made the game long and boring. However, 20 damage makes the games too quick ~ the game is supposed to be causual and fun

Though one must have a Commander in this deck, there is no Commander Damage total that can win.

This format is great if your looking to try something different, and especially is you are a
MTG nerd or a geek.

MTG Peasant Rules I Use

Peasant may attract MTG  geeks and nerds that are looking for something different to pass time.

Like the name sounds, Peasant is a slight upgrade from Pauper.

The most important difference is that 5 cards may be selected as true uncommons, meaning that
they don’t have a common rarity in common.

To my knowledge, Peasant is not sanctioned. I’m just writing about rule suggestions.

The format uses 60 cards.

Players start with 20 life.

Figure out a way to choose who goes first.

Up to 60 basic lands can be used.

If you want to use a sideboard, why not? Peasant just for fun, but this doesn’t include more
than the 5 true uncommons.

Up to 4 card duplicates may be used, also meaning that 4 of the 5 true uncommons may be
the same.

Follow the Banned listing for Pauper, aside fom what I wrote above about the 5 true uncommons.

So far as I know, all the rules are similar for the same for a Pauper deck.

Awesome New MTG Commander Variant by Alex and Me

Why? Pauper CMDR, 100 cards, one uncommon Commander and all Commons  was too slow.

This variant makes for a lot of casual fun.

It requires a Legendary Creature of any rarity or a Planeswalker to be the Commander.

Commanders start in the Command Zone.

Each additional time the Commander is cast from the Command Zone it costs 2 additional mana.

One can choose whether or not a Commander goes into the graveyard or if the Commander
goes into anywhere in the Library.

A player may only have 1 Commander.

The deck does not use Commander Damage.

Damage is damage.

Commander damage counts only counts for regular damage.

There is no magic number of Commander damage that results in a win.

Instead of formats like Standard that use 20 damage, or Commander that uses 40 damage,
this format starts with 30 damage in order to score a win.

There are other win schemes than scoring 30 damage to win. For example, cards that can help
life gain, or alternate schemes such as poison counters are 2 other ways of winning.  .

Instead of a 60 or 100 card deck, it is a hybrid that takes only 80 cards.

Other than Basic Lands, every other card in this format, except the Commander must only have
1 copy, as is the case with the original Commander Format.

One can use as much basic land as is desired, provided that the deck is only 80 cards.

This new variant by my son Alex and I, relies mostly on common and uncommon cards,
such that it isn’t as expensive as expensive as many other decks.

Banned cards follow the Commander format banned card list.

If a card is available as a common or uncommon at anytime in history, it can be used.

Draw 7 cards when it has been determined who goes first.

This deck uses many enchantments. This is something that many decks have little defense against. Of course, there is Deglamer, Naturalize, Gleeful Sabotage, Back to Nature and a few cards that destroy all enchantments, but if you play it right, you shouldn't be playing all the enchantments in your hand anyway, because most players probably won't want to devote enough of deck to face an enchment deck.

Deck the Walls this Xmas 2019 mtg pauper

There are many ways to get mana ramp with green. Using wall/defender ramping is one I haven't come across before I stumbled across it. It works a lot like the (Priest of Titiania) + (Elvish Archdruid) combo, but with better defense. Its weakness, blocking, is its strength. However, an elf deck has a problem to, and that is toughness. Yet, Elvish Archdruid is also a rare, so it can't be played in the situation with this deck.
